Salem, a lovely fluffy kitten , was rescued by his human family when he was just 7 weeks old, and had two of his legs broken. He was treated by the vet and managed to completely heal his wounds to become the funniest and safest cat.

Salem is very intuitive and is often very in tune with people’s feelings; especially when it comes to his human mother. As Salem grew older, the kitten’s mother quickly realized that it was really he who would end up rescuing her.

Hailee Weader, Salem’s mother, told The Dodo :

“If it’s been a bad day or I have a panic attack, he comes to sit on me or he will nuzzle me and start massaging my legs and purring. It has definitely been a comfort throughout the past year. “

Salem is a very curious feline and always enjoys being the center of his family’s attention, his adoptive mother says:

“If you don’t wake up at 8 am sharp to feed him, he sits on top of you and slaps your face or pulls your hair until you wake up. He walks around the house meowing or ‘talking’ to all of us and follows us everywhere, even to the shower. If we ignore him or don’t like something, find the nearest plant and throw it from the windowsill or table and it will make a big mess.

As Hailee was about to finish her college studies, she realized she couldn’t make it without Salem’s support, so officially the charming black feline became her emotional support cat during her senior year in college.

The kitten’s mother, remember:

“He was like a little celebrity on campus, and every time we walked or pushed him in his cat stroller, people would stop us and talk or pet him for a while.”

When the coveted moment of her graduation arrived, Hailee knew she must count on Salem’s company. He had been her support during her college experience, helped her in countless ways, and deserved to graduate alongside her as well.

Without thinking twice, the cat’s mother decided to get her her own cap and gown to proudly receive her degree with her. Salem would graduate with a degree in emotional support.

The graduation ceremony was very simple and fast due to the pandemic and of course Salem was very happy to be a part of Hailee’s special day. Everyone was delighted with Salem and his adorable graduation outfit.

Hailee recalls:

“Everyone was excited and loved her outfit. Everything went well and we were able to enjoy our ceremony and celebrate.

When Hailee first met Salem, she surely didn’t imagine that he could help her in so many ways in her life. Of course, surely, Salem knows that she supported him in his difficult beginnings as a baby, and enjoys returning so much love to him.
